The Team
Andrea Gabriel
Chief Instigator
Andrea Gabriel is a children’s book author and illustrator who knows first hand the frustrations of having books go out of print. She hopes Paint Creek Press will provide a resource for authors who’d like to see their life’s work kept available to the public.
Laura Kalpakian
Secretary
Laura Kalpakian is the author of seventeen works of fiction (novels, novellas and story collections) published in the US, the UK, and abroad. Her nonfiction, Memory Into Memoir: a Writer’s Handbook (2021) is the fruit of twenty years teaching career. Winner of an NEA Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize, the PEN West Award, and the Anahid Award for an American writer of Armenian descent; she also twice won Pacific Northwest Booksellers’ Award. Her novel, American Cookery was nominated for the 2007 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. She has held artistic residencies at Hawthornden Castle, Scotland, the Montalvo Center for the Arts, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. A native Californian, Laura Kalpakian was educated on both the east and west coasts with a BA and an MA in history. She is the Paint Creek Press secretary because she knows shorthand.
Connie Feutz
Community Liason
Connie Feutz is a psychotherapist by trade and a writer by heart. She has written short stories and essays and is finishing her first novel, a historical novel set on a Missouri farm. Spanning almost one hundred years, the book reveals how women were sharing contraceptive methods in the 19th century (and since time immemorial) and the family tragedy that ensues when a family member attempts to hide a pregnancy that resulted from an incestuous rape. Connie has been published in the Philadelphia Arts Exchange, The Christian Science Monitor, and some small presses. She is PCP’s Community Liaison because she wants the world to know about Paint Creek Press.
